  1. The Underground's East London line closes for rebuilding as part of the Overground.
  2. Preview trains start between Dalston Junction and New Cross Gate.
  3. The full service opens, from Dalston Junction to West Croydon and Crystal Palace.
  4. Extended north to Highbury & Islington.
  5. Extended to Clapham Junction, via Peckham Rye.
  6. TfL announces names and colours for the six Overground lines.
  7. The Mayor launches the new line names; signs had started changing on 20 November.
  8. First Rail London takes over running the Overground from Arriva Rail London.
